Francis Amartey's early goal was enough to earn Ayr United their first Scottish Championship win of the season as they edged out Inverness CT.
The 24-year-old scored from the middle of the box on eight minutes.
Charlie Gilmour, Danny Devine, and Luis Longstaff went close for the visitors as boss Billy Dodds was sent to the stand before break.
Nathan Shaw struck the post after the restart, but the Highlanders could not find the leveller.
