Will Evans of Newport County celebrates scoring his second goal

Will Evans scored after just 13 seconds to send Newport County on the way to a 3-0 victory at Forest Green Rovers.

The Exiles striker got on the end of Ryan Delaney's header to stun the hosts and struck again when he collected Adam Lewis' ball over the top.

New Forest Green player-coach Troy Deeney came on for his debut.

But Lewis added a third from the spot after Jamie Robson handled, and Rovers' miserable afternoon ended with Sean Robertson's red for a late challenge.

Newport County forward Will Evans:

"It's a nice feeling (after scoring his fifth and sixth goals of the season) I must say. Any goal when you score at any time is a great feeling but when you go on a bit of a run it's even better.

"Importantly it was about the three points today; we had a bit of a blip in midweek against Crewe (losing 4-2), we ran out of legs a little bit in that second half because they way we're playing at the moment is so intense it's hard to keep up.

"But we dug deep and going in 2-0 up at half-time really helped."
