Aaron Hayden's second-half goal earned Wrexham victory against Tranmere Rovers in League Two at Prenton Park.
The visitors dominated the first half, but could not find a breakthrough, Luke McGee denying Sam Dalby from point-blank range to keep the score goalless.
The deadlock was finally broken on 56 minutes when Hayden met Tom O'Connor's corner to head Wrexham in front.
Sam Taylor came closest to finding an equaliser for the hosts, but Mark Howard tipped his effort over the bar.
A first away win of the season moves Wrexham up to eighth in League Two before all of Saturday's 15:00 BST kick-offs.
A fifth defeat from six league games sees Tranmere slip to 22nd, outside the relegation zone on goal difference.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson:
"I'm very pleased. I thought it was a strong performance from us. First half I thought we were excellent. We passed the ball really well, got in some good positions, didn't get the goal, but didn't feel sorry for ourselves ourselves, we kept going.
"Obviously the home team is going to come back into it to a certain degree. But still we had enough good chances to have won the game by more.
"But 1-0 wins are important because they show a resilience and I thought we've dug deep today when we had to and we pushed ourselves that extra yard to make sure we got a result."
