Wrexham comfortably saw off Grimsby Town at the Stok Racecourse to rise three places to fourth in the League Two table.

Ollie Palmer met Elliot Lee's superb cross to beat visiting goalkeeper Jake Eastwood to open the scoring.

Grimsby keeper Eastwood then saw Will Boyle add the second, while at the other end Arthur Gnahoua was among those denied in the first half.

Sam Dalby then set up Lee to seal victory in the 79th minute.

The visitors dropped from eighth to 14th after the first meeting between the clubs since Grimsby won 5-4 in a National League play-off semi-final at Wrexham in 2022, before winning promotion to the National League.

Wrexham assistant manager Steve Parkin said: "It was good because we were playing against a good team.

"Grimsby are well organised and have had a good start to the season and I think we've been striving and looking for a real, solid workmanlike, but with good football in it (performance).

"We've not quite had it in long periods, by today I thought we were really good."
