Swansea City striker Jamal Lowe celebrates scoring a penalty at Millwall

Jamal Lowe, Matt Grimes and Mykola Kuharevich all netted as Swansea City earned their first away win of the season in style at Millwall.

Lowe fired beyond Bartosz Białkowski from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute after Jerry Yates was fouled by Jake Cooper.

Grimes then drilled beyond the Polish goalkeeper on 57 minutes.

Kuharevich netted his first goal for the club 11 minutes from time to seal back-to-back successes.

The defeat - Millwall's fourth of the campaign - saw the Lions drop to 15th in the Championship table.

Both sides were impacted by injuries in the build-up to the contest, with Kevin Nisbet replacing Tom Bradshaw who was absent due to a hamstring issue.

Harry Darling, Bashir Humphreys and Yates all came in for injured Swansea trio Nathan Wood, Kristian Pedersen and Josh Ginnelly following last weekend's 3-0 triumph over Sheffield Wednesday.

The visitors bossed possession in the opening stages, but Millwall carried the greater threat as Zian Flemming and Nisbet both had half-chances.

Swans goalkeeper Carl Rushworth - on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion - then denied Duncan Watmore after the forward linked up with Nisbet on the left.

But it was the away side who went in front midway inside the first half as Jamie Paterson threaded through to Yates who had his shirt pulled in the box by defender Cooper.

After consulting with his assistant, referee John Busby pointed to the spot, and Lowe fired home his second goal of the season from 12 yards out.

The Bournemouth loanee very nearly doubled Swansea's advantage six minutes later as he latched on to Ben Cabango's ball over the top, although his lofted effort was clawed away by Białkowski.

The Lions grew frustrated and were fortunate to go into the break just a goal behind after Yates picked out Paterson, who could only drill straight at Białkowski in the final stages of the opening half.

Gary Rowett sent on Joe Bryan and Romain Esse for the second half as Ryan Longman and Brooke Norton-Cuffy made way - with Michael Duff needing to send Kuharevich on for the injured Yates for Swansea.

Millwall showed more intent after the restart as Flemming fired over from the edge of the box.

But they fell two goals behind moments later as Grimes' driven strike from 25 yards out went under the arms of Białkowski and into the net.

Watmore was unable to prod beyond Rushworth before the goalkeeper denied Ryan Leonard and then Nisbet - the latter with his face from point-blank range.

And Swansea capped off a fine performance as Josh Key crossed to fellow summer signing Kuharevich to head past Białkowski, as Millwall lost for the third time on home soil in the Championship this season.

Millwall boss Gary Rowett:

"I spoke to the players about it, we concede a goal and we look like we're mentally affected by it. I know sometimes it's difficult and the atmosphere becomes a little bit edgy. I understand that, because we shouldn't go a goal down at home.

"But we've got to be brave enough to deal with that and to still do what we want to do.

"I've felt this season that, when we've gone a goal down, we haven't responded as well as I would expect.

"I know there's a lot of pressure on the senior players, but as a manager you look for those players on the pitch and you look for them to be the ones to try and drive the rest. At the moment I think we've been a little bit inconsistent with that."

Swansea City head coach Michael Duff:

"The difference between today and the QPR game where we went into protection mode, we killed the game off so that was the pleasing part.

"We want to get to a point where when teams do put us under pressure, we can defend the box and we're organised and structured, but we want to be able to play as well. So it's being able to do both.

"We've not arrived because we've won a couple of games. But I think the reaction since the Cardiff game has been brilliant."
