  2. Sprint race build-up from 17:30 BST on Saturdaypublished at 23:51 BST 17 October

Beware of the Red Bull of Max Verstappen if you're Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. The Dutchman is keeping his nose in this title race and tomorrow he will lead the field off the line for Saturday's 19-lap sprint race. Can he do a pole double and claim the main grand prix spot? You wouldn't bet against him at the moment.

We'll back tomorrow to build up to the sprint from 17:30 BST.

Lights out is at 18:00 BST.

    See you on Saturday!

  3. 'Scruffy lap' for Piastripublished at 23:46 BST 17 October

Oscar Piastri is told he was four tenths away from pole position, so does he know where he lost the time? "Yeah, in a few places," the Australian says.

"I think a pretty scruffy lap to be honest. I just didn't really get it together. In some way... yeah... feel a bit fortunate to be third, but I think the pace in the car is good.

"It's not been a major disaster, just a bit of a messy lap, which I can hopefully tidy up tomorrow."

  4. Norris 'happy' overall with P2published at 23:41 BST 17 October

Oh, we do get to hear from Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Nice one.

Norris is up first to chat in the media pen. "Of course, would've loved to have been on pole, but not a surprise for us to be just a bit slower than the Red Bull, but still pretty happy," says the Briton.

"I don't know how much I was off by but a little couple of things here and there I could've improved on, and just caught a few bumps a little bit wrong, I'd say, but that's just the difficulty of this track.

    "Overall, all happy."

  5. Verstappen on the chargepublished at 23:37 BST 17 October

Max Verstappen is the master of the sprint format, with Austin being the 10th sprint pole position of his career. The winner only gets eight points on Saturday but that's not to be sniffed at when the Dutchman has already taken a decent chuck of points since the summer break. Should Oscar Piasti and Lando Norris be looking over their shoulders now at the four-time world champion? Or has this run of form for Red Bull come too late for Verstappen?

  6. Verstappen 'expecting tough battle' in sprintpublished at 23:33 BST 17 October

Only the polesitter gets interviewed after sprint qualifying, so here's what Max Verstappen, who beat Lando Norris to the best seat in the house for tomorrow's shorter dash, had to say:

"It's been a nice qualifying. I think we were quite close and it was just about trying to put it all together when it matters. At the end it's not easy because you go to the soft compound and there is no refernce really. But it worked out well.

"I still expect it to be a tough battle tomorrow in the sprint, but I think that’s exactly what we want to see, right?"

The Dutchman ends the chat by saying: "Excited for tomorrow and happy with today."
