Raith Rovers 1-1 Airdrieonians: Hosts miss chance to narrow gap on Scottish Championship leaders

  • Published

Raith Rovers missed the opportunity to narrow the gap to Dundee United at the top of the Scottish Championship after being held to a draw by Airdrieonians.

Callum Smith smashed the Fifers ahead, latching onto a pin-point through ball that was expertly dummied by Aidan Connolly.

And, with United dropping points against Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Raith were within a point of the league leaders for a spell.

However, former Dunfermline forward Nikolay Todorov silenced the home support as he got the final touch on a corner in a congested box.

Connolly came closest to snatching the win for Ian Murray's side, but Joshua Rae in the away goal pulled off a superb save to deny the winger.
