Brandon Thomas-Asante: West Bromwich Albion forward wants goalscoring responsibility

West Bromwich Albion striker Brandon Thomas-Asante says he is ready to "lead" their attack on their challenge for promotion from the Championship.
Thomas-Asante came off the bench to score the Baggies' second goal in their 2-0 win at Coventry City on Tuesday.
It was his fifth goal of the season as injury-hit Albion continued to defy their injury issues to go into fifth.
"I think I can give it a good go. I was really happy with the goal," Thomas-Asante, 24, told BBC Radio WM.
Thomas-Asante's effort - a fine curling strike into the top corner - condemned the Sky Blues to their first home defeat of the season and ensured Albion made it 10 points out of the last available 15.
It was also his second goal in as many games and the 50th of his career.
With top scorer John Swift expected to be out until after the November international break with a calf injury, and the likes of Daryl Dike, Josh Maja and Jeremy Sarmiento unavailable to boss Carlos Corberan, Thomas-Asante wants to take on the responsibility of getting the goals.
"Every single one of those players is important and will be like new players coming back for the winter months and new year, so we're really excited for that because it should really rejuvenate us and give us that added boost," he said.
"I've seen the players over the last few seasons who can hit 20-plus [goals] and I see myself as one of the players who can do that.
"Scoring game-on-game is what you want to be doing in this league and I've been working with the coaches on my finishing, and I've just got to keep that going."
After hitting 14 goals in his first season at The Hawthorns last term, Thomas-Asante bagged three in his first four appearances at the start of the current campaign.
But a run of seven games without a goal followed and he was named among the substitutes at the CBS Arena, despite starting and scoring in the 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers six days earlier.
However, Thomas-Asante is adamant Corberan can count on him up front.
"I've been able to get a lot of minutes and I really want to take the responsibility to lead the team," he said.
"In the past I've been guilty of getting so eager I go out and warm up again and again and I've got nothing left, but I just had to pace myself.
"I was just happy that the gaffer unleashed me and that it could count for something."
