Cardiff City's Tija Richardson is looking forward to "a very special afternoon" when she faces her former team Swansea City in the Adran Premier on Sunday.

Richardson, 31, who joined the Adran champions ahead of the current season, is from a family of Bluebirds supporters.

Cardiff are three points clear of second-placed Swansea and third-placed Wrexham AFC at the top of the table.

"For me, I just want to win," she said.

"We are confident. We've had really good training and really good prep this week.

"The game plan has been sorted so as a team we are on a really high energy into Sunday.

"We've got a plan going forward and we are ticking the boxes at the moment, taking one game at a time.

"Obviously we have had a great start to the season."

Richardson has won a total of six Welsh titles in spells with Swansea and Cardiff Met.

She scored in her side's 6-1 win over Barry Town United last Sunday, a game which attracted a crowd of 1,092 to the Cardiff City Stadium.

"It was fantastic to score, just to hear the crowd really," Richardson added.

"I hadn't long come back from injury so it was a really special moment for me, especially for confidence going into this weekend.

"I've played for the three top teams so I've had a different experience with each one of them, but obviously it's who I am today."

Swansea City striker Robyn Pinder will be playing in her first south Wales derby and is looking forward to facing the champions at the Llandarcy Academy of Sport

"The girls have been telling me how important they [Cardiff] are," Pinder said.

"The league's been fascinating this year. Nobody's taken every single points so far and we've all dropped points in some way.

"It's pretty open and the closest it's been in a long time, which is exciting."

Swansea, along with Sunday's opponents Cardiff and newly promoted Wrexham are now semi-professional sides.

Pinder, 30, joined Swansea in the close season and said: "I'd been at Cardiff Met for a long time and so fancied new challenge.

"I just so happened to come over at the right sort of time. The professionalisation has been fantastic and the chairman is always keeping in contact with us and giving us updates.

"He's really, really keen to drive the club forward and further professionalise it. It's been really exciting.

"We've got a really good squad here and we know what we're capable of. We've just got to get a bit of momentum, keep working hard and I'm sure the results will come.

"What better way to start than this Sunday in the south Wales derby."
