David Wotherspoon's double helped Inverness race into a 3-0 lead by half-time

David Wotherspoon scored twice as in-form Inverness Caledonian Thistle moved out of the Scottish Championship relegation spots with victory over play-off chasing Ayr United.

His close-range finish, followed by a deflected goal, takes his goal tally to three in as many games.

Billy McKay converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time after Charlie Gilmour was fouled by Paddy Reading.

Jamie Murphy's spot-kick reduced Ayr's deficit after a foul on Ahkeem Rose.

But the visitors could not prevent Caley Thistle from extending their unbeaten run to five matches as Duncan Ferguson's side move up to eighth, while Ayr are sixth.
