Arsenal loanee Charlie Patino will learn from his red card during Swansea City's goalless draw with Sunderland, Swans head coach Michael Duff says.
Patino, 20, was sent off for picking up two yellow cards in the space of 20 first-half minutes on Saturday.
Reports in Italy have linked the highly-rated midfielder to clubs such as AC Milan following his promising start to a season-long loan with Swansea in the Championship.
"He's been good, Charlie," said Duff.
"He's had a lot of headlines this week in terms of a bit of noise and things like that but he's been flatlining in terms of his own ego, keeping it in check and not getting ahead of himself.
"We'll go through it [the red card]. It's part of his learning. If you give referees to make… I don't think either was a yellow card ultimately.
"It's why he's here, different experiences. Arsenal want him to have these experiences with different teams so it doesn't happen when he's playing for them. It's why we have players out on loan.
"We'll talk to him and show him a few clips but it's character now. It's an opportunity for someone else to come in and if they step up he might lose his place.
"He knows where he wants to be but he's prepared to work every day to get there. This will be another part of his learning."
Patino has long been touted for a bright future at Arsenal and, having spent last season on loan in the Championship with Blackpool, he has caught the eye in the second tier with Swansea during this campaign as well.
The playmaker has scored one goal and provided four assists in his 12 appearances, but lasted only half an hour before he was sent off against Sunderland.
Despite Patino's early dismissal and a penalty miss by Jamal Lowe, Swansea dug in to claim a creditable draw against their play-off-chasing opponents.
Patino will now serve a one-match suspension and miss the Swans' trip to Ipswich Town on Saturday, 11 November.
"Inside he'll feel like he's let the team down but he hasn't let the team down," Duff added.
"He's made a couple of mistakes but it happens.
"We talk about togetherness and the way the players have got him out of the muck so the headline isn't 'Charlie Patino cost the team points' or 'Jamal cost the team points by missing the penalty'. The team stuck together."
