Torquay United kept their first clean sheet in the league in almost two months

Torquay United moved back into the National League South play-off places after a 1-0 win over Bath City.

Shaun Donnellan's deflected long-range strike with eight minutes to go was enough to end a two-game losing streak and move the Gulls into fifth place.

The win comes before the visit of league leaders Yeovil Town on Tuesday.

"They're playing their hearts out for the football club," manager Gary Johnson told BBC Radio Devon after a second win in seven league games.

"That's their job and that's the least you expect, and I think there's times when it looks like people are not trying, but they are.

"Mentally they are trying and then sometimes physically they might make the wrong decision, but all teams do that and it's how you come back in when it's not going well - can you keep yourself in the game?

"I thought that's what we did today, we kept ourselves in the game and had some chances at the end."
