Motherwell fear sanctions will be imposed on the club should supporters continue to use flares inside football grounds.
The Scottish Premiership club issued a strongly worded statement after fans lit up their end of McDiarmid Park at the start of Tuesday's Scottish Premiership match.
"The use of pyrotechnics can cause injury to players, stewards and fellow supporters," Motherwell said. "If this continues, the club could be subject to sanctions."
Police Scotland, Dundee FC, the Scottish government and the Scottish Professional Football League all condemned a pyrotechnic display by Rangers supporters at last week's Premiership match at Dens Park.
The Scottish FA and SPFL promised "a range of measures" to prevent a repeat at the weekend's Viaplay Cup semi-finals at Hampden.
"We need to reiterate that the use of pyrotechnics in football grounds is a criminal offence and we are disappointed they were used by some of our supporters at last night's game," Motherwell added.
"Supporters are the most important component of match days and we encourage that support to continue in a safe manner."
