Kristoffer Ajer has signed a new deal with Brentford that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028.

Brentford have the option of extending the Norway defender's contract for an additional year.

Ajer, 25, moved to the Bees from Celtic on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee in 2021.

He made his 50th appearance for the club before the international break and manager Thomas Frank said Ajer had been "very unlucky" with injuries.

Frank told Brentford's website: "I'm very pleased that Kristoffer has extended his contract.

"Now he is playing regularly at centre-back and right full-back and I think he plays both of those positions at a very high level.

"Kristoffer has shown consistency and quality in this recent block of games, which I'm pleased about."

Ajer began his professional career in Norway with IK Start and won the domestic treble in Scotland in three consecutive seasons with Celtic.

He made his international debut in 2018 and has 33 caps so far.
