Derby County's in-demand pair Eiran Cashin and Max Bird will be offered new contracts, with Rams boss Paul Warne saying the club is braced for renewed approaches for them.

Brighton reportedly still want defender Cashin,, external 22, having missed out in the summer, while 23-year-old midfielder Bird has been linked with Hull City., external

When asked about the links, Warne said: "I'm not disputing it's a concern.

"No-one wants to lose their best, most consistent players."

Talking to BBC Radio Derby, Warne added: "I don't want to lose them, but it would be naive of me to say that there isn't always a potential of losing them.

"It would be the same problem for every manager in January.

"Their best player will be rumoured for moves and their agents are working really hard behind the scenes to get those moves, in the same way the players that I'm trying to sign are not the ones currently at high school, or out of work just chilling their bones. They are at another club.

"If I'm going to go for someone from another club, who I think is going to help me, it's a bit naive of me to think it's not going to happen the other way around. Of course it happens."

Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Cashin, who has a year option on his Rams contract that the club can trigger, has featured 91 times in all competitions since making his first-team debut in the Championship in December 2021.

Bird, who came through the Rams' youth ranks like Cashin, has played 176 games and will have six months left of his contract when the transfer window opens in January.

When asked if Derby would offer the pair new contracts, Warne said: "Why wouldn't they be offered a new deal? It is the time prior to January to try to convince them to sign."
