Arbroath: Dick Campbell resigns after seven years in charge

Dick Campbell ended a seven-year spell in charge of second-tier Arbroath after a shock Scottish Cup third-round defeat by League 2 Spartans.
The 2-1 defeat in Edinburgh was Arbroath's fifth in a row, and they sit second bottom of the Championship after four wins from their first 11 games.
Campbell took charge of the Angus club in 2016 and led them from League 2 to the brink of the top-flight.
Arbroath say Campbell and his staff served the club "with distinction".
"The club wishes to place on record its sincere gratitude to Dick, Ian [Campbell], Robert [Douglas], and John [Young] for all their wonderful efforts and service to Arbroath during arguably one of the most successful periods in the club's history.
"We wish them all the very best for the future."
Campbell, working alongside his brother Ian as assistant, saved Arbroath from the SPFL trapdoor before winning promotion to League 1 and eventually the Championship, where he kept them for five seasons.
The highlight came during the 2021-22 campaign, when Campbell led part-time Arbroath to the brink of the Premiership as they took the title race to the penultimate game before losing to eventual winners Kilmarnock.
Last season they survived relegation on a dramatic final day but began this term poorly, before winning five games in a row.
But the latest poor run - culminating in defeat by Spartans - pushed Campbell to resign after over seven years at Gayfield.
