Paul Mullin rescued a point for Wrexham deep into stoppage time after winning and converting a penalty to earn a 1-1 draw at Forest Green Rovers on a foggy night in Gloucestershire.

Struggling Forest Green were minutes from a third win in four matches thanks to Emmanuel Osadebe's sweetly-struck shot after just three minutes.

Forest Green defended stoutly and looked set to seal a surprising win.

However, Mullin was fouled by Jamie Robson and smashed home the penalty.

The result has big ramifications at both ends of the League Two table.

Forest Green came close to a win that would've moved them to within one point of safety, but the draw leaves them three points adrift in 23rd, while fourth-placed Wrexham missed out on the chance to climb back into the automatic promotion places.

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said: "We had loads of possession and loads of good positions, but we struggled to work the goalkeeper enough.

"It wasn't for the lack of trying. We just couldn't find that bit of quality.

"They were organised and structured and worked exceptionally hard to stop us, but we kept going and never hid from the ball. There was no lack of trying to make it happen. We got the moment eventually, and it could be an important point for us.

"At the moment we're having a period where we're not producing, we know that, but it will come. We need something like the penalty tonight to get us up and running again."
