Chris Davies remains the leading candidate to replace Michael Duff as Swansea City boss.

Duff was sacked on December 4 having overseen just five wins in 19 Championship outings.

The club have already had an approach to speak with Davies rejected by Tottenham Hotspur - but he is still their prime target.

Davies has been backed by a host of ex-Swans stars to shine if he moves to the Swansea.com Stadium.

Alan Curtis

"I think Chris would be someone who would fit the bill," Curtis said of Davies on Radio Wales Sport.

"He was a young lad [in his previous spell at Swansea], but he sucked up everything, the knowledge, he listened and he asked questions about everything.

"He's a good communicator, a lovely fella and knows what the club is about.

"He used to scout the opposition and we'd go on Chris' reports. He went to Liverpool and then Celtic and Leicester. He took a prominent role as Brendan [Rodgers] took a step back a bit.

"He's at Tottenham now and he's at the forefront of the coaching there.

"He certainly knows what the club is all about and does know the way we want to play football, and I'm very sure it's the way that he wants to play football.

"It's all to come together, but it could be a great appointment."

Andy Robinson

"In terms of the identity and the philosophy of the football club, Chris Davies does fit the bill," he said on BBC Radio Wales Breakfast.

"If I was Chris Davies I'd jump at the chance to come to Swansea.

"He's got a connection with the football club, he's been here with Brendan Rodgers."

Lee Trundle

Speaking on Elis James' Feast of Football, ex-Swans forward Trundle said: "For me, I would go for Chris Davies.

"I know Chris personally and I do think he would be a good fit."

He added: "If I'm a young manager coming in, I think the breeding ground we've had for people looking at you and using us as a stepping stone.

"If you get it right at Swansea and you play that nice football, people will come in from a higher level and look at you.

"I do think if you do well here, you've got a chance of, not only going on with Swansea, but someone from the Premier League coming in and taking you."

Steven Caulker

"He's a really nice man," Caulker told Radio Wales Sport.

"He's a perfect fit for Swansea, he's had a lot of experience working under Brendan Rodgers.

"What I remember about him is he's really hard working.

"Swansea had a good few years in the Premier League and he was certainly part of that.

"For me, I think he deserves his chance in management. There's still scope for the club to move forwards, even this season.

"It's a club that you know is more than capable of getting promotion and holding its own in the Premier League.

"It's a club with a lot of potential, I think it's an exciting offer for anyone to be offered that job.

"He'll be weighing up his options. He's working under a fantastic manager in Ange [Postecoglou], and they're doing really well.

"But maybe he does now want the opportunity to be his own man, be his own manager and bring in his own staff underneath him."
