Rangers fans believe Clement usually has a wand in his hand

Not only was the latest Scottish Premiership programme packed with storylines, the first trophy of the season was also decided in Scotland this weekend.

Another defeat for Celtic has left their disgruntled fans chewing over what has gone wrong for Brendan Rodgers and his side in recent weeks.

Heart of Midlothian were the latest team to shock Rodgers' side and the surprise win in Glasgow was a timely boost for boss Steven Naismith, who is yet to convince all of the club's supporters.

That was far from the only drama of the day though, with Ross County manager Derek Adams eviscerating the Scottish game after their defeat against Dundee.

Then on Sunday, Rangers clinched the League Cup to put the seal on an impressive start to life at Ibrox for Philippe Clement.

That meant disappointment for Aberdeen fans hoping Barry Robson's men could come up with something special in the midst of a rollercoaster season.

We asked for your views on the action-packed weekend, so here is the best of them...

'Clement is Potter in disguise'

A first trophy for Philippe Clement has Rangers fans hailing him as a managerial magician

Ian: Great result, tough watch! Team is coming together but as Mr Clement has highlighted, still much to do. Big test coming at the end of the year away at Parkhead. Need to take care of the games before that one to build more confidence and optimism while increasing the pressure on Celtic.

Chris: Well done Rangers, well done Harry Potter. To be in the last 16 in the Europa League, in control of the title fight and the first part of the treble in the bag... who would have thought it?

Anonymous: The wait is finally over. What this manager has done is nothing short of miraculous. You can see he's getting the buzz of what it means to be a Ranger. This was always going to be a tough game but fair play, he found a way again. Here's to the first of many trophies.

Elaine: Who would have believed it? Philippe Clement clearly is Harry Potter in disguise. I'm very much looking forward to seeing who he brings in too. Our new hero. Between him and super Jack Butland in goal, we're flying. Long may it continue.

Fraser: A solid team effort, what a turnaround from the Beale shambles. But it really is noticeable how Aberdeen up their game every time they play us.

'Why not have a go?'

The feeling among Aberdeen fans was of a chance missed at Hampden Park

Anonymous: Our two oldest players were great servants first time round but should never have returned. We'll never have a better chance to beat a poor Glasgow team but we were two men down from the start. That and Robson's negativity meant the result was inevitable.

John: Same old story; not one shot on target then Tavernier turns up and scores the winner. How can you play well against one of the best teams in Europe with your second team in midweek then lose to a poor Rangers team in a cup final with your first-choice team? No more excuses - they're Robson's team and they are not good enough.

Fred: We were not good enough pure and simple. Rangers deserved the win. We need to sign a player who can score consistently as most of the time we have no bite. Our inconsistency and apparent lack of motivation is worrying - we need a new manager, unfortunately.

Frank: How often do you get to a cup final? Why not have a go? Bitterly disappointed. The game was there for both teams and yet Aberdeen were cautious for the whole game. Miovski didn't look fit and wasn't in the game. Soklar disappointed.

Anonymous: We lost the final because we had no control in midfield. We have never replaced Ramadani. Shinnie/Ramadani did the leg work last year and Clarkson had time and space to play. Whilst McGrath is a good player going forward he is not a disruptor like Ramadani, who with Shinnie provided Clarkson with a platform which he has not had this year.

'The great Derek Adams debate'

The Ross County boss certainly sparked interest with his rant about the Scottish game...

Jim: Regarding the comments on the standard of Scottish football being poor, mainly because of the way it's been run for decades by people who never played the game at a decent level and who make a very good living out of running it badly, will it change? No. Too many cities running two teams (Glasgow excepted) means no competition for the big too.

Ian: That was a terrible game and Derek's emotions would have been high after losing a late goal but in general I think his comments are correct for about 90% of Scottish football. Most teams are pretty average. Player wages seem to have risen but the quality of what you get for your money is worse.'

John: If Derek thinks County were bad he should have been here under [Malky] Mackay. Is Derek playing Devil's Advocate?! Difficult to believe he made these comments without carefully considering the impact on players and fans.

Meanwhile, Dundee fans are enjoying their return to the Premiership

Carl: This is a team who play and fight for each other and as a lifelong supporter it's a wee while since I've seen that. Today we saw it in spades and hopefully it will last all season. We also proved we are 100 times better than Morecambe FC!

Bill: There seems to be a unity about Dundee now, as well as some quality. Very encouraging indeed. We have gone through rough times over the last couple of decades and hopefully this can change for the better. I have seen more downs than ups at Dens since the heady days of the early 60s.

Ralph: Absolutely brilliant result and backed by 1,000 Dees.

Bill: Consistency is what is required from a team still finding its place in the Premiersip. Some great players who still have not reached their peak.

'Where have some of the players been hiding?'

Hearts fans lapped up the win at Celtic - but now want more from their side every week... and a new striker!

Ian: I've been a big critic of Hearts but credit where credit is due to both the manager and players. Can we now see some consistency or will it be back to what has been the norm this season?

David: Fantastic result at Parkhead - well done to everyone! The question to be asked however is where have some of the players been hiding prior to this? Absolutely imperative that we continue to impress going forward, starting with three points against St Mirren next week. Still think we need another striker to help Shankland.

The message boards didn't make good reading for Rodgers, as he will not need telling

Dennis: Rodgers is the main reason for Celtic playing so much rubbish. Time to go.

'Find a system for the players'

Debutant Fran Franczak, 16, took the headlines as St Johnstone beat Hibernian, a defeat that left fans of the side from the capital questioning manager Nick Montgomery.

John: Hibs at their usual level rubbish. I've been a supporter since 1947 - I don't know why. Must be the great managers we get.

Scott: 'Monty' really needs to think again about his 4-4-2 with two narrow wingers - very predictable and effectively leaves two midfielders covering a lot of ground. Add to that trying to play out from the back in the manner we do suggests the players are not comfortable. Best to find a system for the players you have and not the other way round.
