Walsall came from behind to make it three straight wins as they thrashed Grimsby Town to claim their biggest away league victory in almost 76 years.

Isaac Hutchinson's double - including one from the penalty spot - along with goals from Douglas James-Taylor, Jack Earing, Priestley Farquharson and Danny Johnson helped the Saddlers hit six on the road for the first time in a league game since a 6-0 Division Three South win at Exeter in April 1948.

It was actually Grimsby who scored first, when Danny Rose turned the ball home in the 29th minute, but Walsall hit back just nine minutes later when James-Taylor coasted past Luke Waterfall before smashing an equaliser into the top left-hand corner.

It was advantage Walsall by the 43rd minute, when Hutchinson netted to put the Saddlers ahead for the first time, with four more goals to come in the second half.

Quickfire strikes from Earing, who turned sharply in the Grimsby box to finish, and Hutchinson from the penalty spot - after Kamil Conteh felled Earing - made it 4-1 inside 10 second-half minutes.

Farquharson prodded in from a corner in the 67th minute before Johnson struck from close range in added time to rubber-stamp a fifth win in six league matches for Mat Sadler's Saddlers.

It was the first time Walsall have hit six in any game since beating Bristol Rovers 6-1 in January 2011, external.
