Dundee say Owen Beck will be "greatly missed" after Liverpool recalled the left-back from his loan spell.

Beck played 20 times and scored twice in the opening half of the campaign, as he earned his first Wales call up.

However his fine form, coupled with Liverpool losing Scotland captain Andy Robertson and understudy Kostas Tsimikas to injury, has led the Premier League leaders to cut short the loan.

"Owen has been outstanding on and off the field," read a Dundee statement.

"We would like to thank him for all he has given and wish him all the very best for the future. Owen will always be welcomed back in Dundee."

Robertson is unlikely to return in January as had been hoped after his rehabilitation process was extended following the dislocated shoulder he suffered in the national team's October defeat in Spain.

Greece defender Tsimikas faces a lengthy spell out after he suffered a broken collarbone in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal before Christmas.
