Graham Coughlan questioned Omar Bogle's professionalism after the Newport County striker revealed on social media he would be out of action until March.

Bogle missed the Exiles' games against Crewe Alexandra and Sutton United due to a muscle problem.

And boss Coughlan was unimpressed after Bogle responded to a fan on Instagram to confirm the extent of the injury.

"I don't think we're ready to go public with our findings so far," he told Radio Wales Sport.

"If Omar Bogle wants to use social media to inform people that he's injured and the length of his injury then that is something that needs to be addressed by the football club.

"That's not how we do things. If Omar wants to go on social media and put that on then that's his prerogative, it's not the most professional thing I've seen in my life.

"We've had injuries all season but one man's misfortune is another man's opportunity so hopefully one or two will get the opportunity and be able to take it."

It comes after a supporter sent Bogle a message online to ask about the severity of the injury the 31-year-old sustained in training.

A fan wrote: "How is the injury? When are you back? You were a huge miss against Crewe!"

Bogle responded: "Appreciate you. 8-10 weeks. I'll be back even better though. The only way."

With Bogle - who has eight goals to his name this season - set to be sidelined for around two months, Newport boss Coughlan admitted it was vital that the club strengthened the squad during the January transfer window.

"We need to do business, certain areas in our football club need strengthening, we need certain players coming in through the front door," he said after his side's 1-1 draw with Sutton United on New Year's Day.

"Whether we can get the players we want is a different story.

"It's a notorious difficult window January but I assume a couple of players will go the other way, we'll just have to see what happens in the next couple of weeks."
