Wrexham: Jacob Mendy to miss FA Cup tie after joining Gambia squad

Wrexham's Jacob Mendy has joined the Gambia squad for their pre-Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) training camp in Saudi Arabia.

The full-back has been a key figure under Phil Parkinson this term, featuring 23 times in all competitions.

But he will miss his side's FA Cup third round clash with Shrewsbury Town on 7 January.

Gambia take on Atlas Lions in Morocco on the same day Wrexham face Shrewsbury.

The Scorpions - who face Senegal, Guinea and Cameroon at AFCON - name their final squad for the tournament in Ivory Coast on 9 January.
