Fleetwood have signed Irish striker Ronan Coughlan from Waterford.

The 27-year-old - once of Huddersfield - has agreed an 18-month contract, subject to international clearance.

Coughlan scored 37 goals in all competitions for the League of Ireland Premier Division side last season.

His goals broke the First Division scoring record, the club record for the most goals in a season and also helped the Blues secure promotion, netting their winner in the play-off final.

Fleetwood midfielder Barry Baggley was also in the Waterford squad as they overcame Cork City in November.

Coughlan spent three years with Huddersfield as a youngster before returning to Ireland for spells with Bray Wanderers, Cork City, Sligo Rovers, and St Patrick's Athletic.

He follows Phoenix Patterson and Junior Quitirna in making the move between the sister clubs, while Baggley moved in the opposite direction on loan last year.
