Copa del Rey: Unionistas v Villarreal abandoned because of floodlight failure

Villarreal's Copa del Rey match at Unionistas had to be abandoned at the start of extra time because of floodlight failure.

Third-tier club Unionistas were drawing 1-1 against the La Liga side when the game was stopped.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) later said the game would restart on Monday at 15:30 GMT.

The last-32 tie was being played in front of nearly 6,000 fans at the Reina Sofia stadium.

In an earlier statement, Villarreal said: "Both Villarreal and Unionistas have been willing to continue the match tonight at all times. After the lighting problems, it was the referee, the highest authority in the match, who unilaterally decided to suspend the match as he considered that the conditions for the game were not met."

Elsewhere, Barcelona beat fourth-tier side Barbastro 3-2 with goals from Fermin Lopez, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski, while Real Madrid went through by defeating Arandina 3-1 on Saturday.
