Callum Davidson's ultimate goal is to lead Queen's Park into the Scottish Premiership using homegrown talent after taking over as manager.
The former St Johnstone boss will take charge of his first game away to Scottish Championship leaders Raith Rovers on Saturday.
Davidson, 47, won a Scottish Cup and League Cup double in 2021 at Saints.
"It was one of the clubs that was trying to build an infrastructure," he said of Queen's Park.
"They are trying to play young Scottish players and it's something I have a strong affinity with.
"It's something I enjoy doing. I felt the opportunity is there to do it. You can see the improvements at the club already and it's something I want to be a part of to see them progress.
"There are certain ways you can do it and hopefully I can be a part of the success story here."
Queen's Park have enjoyed successive promotions in recent years but are second bottom of the second tier, above Arbroath on goal difference.
"Short term it's about staying in the league but it's more about the foundation and what we are trying to build," added Davidson.
"If we can have a regular amount of young players coming into the team with some experience as well. It's important we balance it with both. My job is to float them into the first team at the top level. The Premiership is our aim eventually.
"It won't happen overnight, it will take a period of time. They have been at it now for a few years and hopefully we can take the club forward."
