An investigation into Aberdeen's claim that striker Pape Habib Gueye was racially abused during their Europa Conference League game with PAOK in November has been closed.

A spokesman for governing body Uefa says the initial investigation has ended without action being taken against the Greek club.

Aberdeen had claimed unused substitute Gueye had been subjected to abuse from a section of the home support during the second half at the Toumba Stadium.

In the immediate aftermath of the 2-2 draw in Thessaloniki, the Scottish Premiership club issued a strongly worded statement saying they had reported the matter to Uefa and would liaise fully with the governing body during their investigation.

PAOK responded by saying the complaint was "clearly a product of imagination".

Aberdeen have yet to comment about the latest development, but it is understood they are seeking clarity from Uefa on the matter.
