Swindon Town have signed defenders Pharrell Johnson from Nottingham Forest and Conor McCarthy from Barnsley.

Johnson, 19, whose contract at the Premier League side was due to run out this summer, has agreed a permanent move having failed to make a first-team appearance for Forest.

He did feature in two under-21 EFL Trophy matches earlier this season at Carlisle United and Accrington.

Swindon have not disclosed if they paid a fee or the length of Johnson's deal.

McCarthy joins on loan until the end of the season from League One side the Tykes.

The 25-year-old joined Barnsley in the summer of 2022 from St Mirren and has played 14 games, although has not featured in the league this campaign.
