Jamal Lowe is in his second spell at Swansea having previously played for the club between 2020 and 2021

Swansea City forward Jamal Lowe will be sidelined for up to four weeks with a knee injury.

Lowe, 29, has been a regular for Swansea this season, scoring six goals in 23 appearances since rejoining on loan from Bournemouth.

He was helped off the field during last Saturday's defeat to Southampton.

"The information we have on Jamal is that he will be out for three to four weeks, tops," said Swansea boss Luke Williams.

"It is not as serious as we feared. He hyper-extended his knee which for a normal person would be a massive problem, but Jamal is obviously very well put together.

"I watched it back in slow motion which I never should have done, because then I didn't sleep.

"Jamal is a really good athlete. It's going to be a few more weeks but this could have been six months, with that type of contact and hyperextension."

Lowe was already ineligible for Thursday's FA Cup tie at Bournemouth.

Williams says seven-goal leading scorer Jerry Yates and Liam Cullen are options to lead the Swansea line in the absence of Lowe.

Mykola Kuharevich, who joined Swansea for a fee understood to be about £1m last summer, is also availablet, but the Ukrainian forward looks to be well down the pecking order as things stand.

And Williams said the loss of Lowe will not impact his efforts to strengthen the squad with just days left of this month's transfer window.

"I don't think it will change drastically," he said. "We have people lined up and we are trying to get a deal done."

Lowe has joined Ben Cabango, Josh Key, Liam Walsh, Sam Parker and Azeem Abdulai on the list of absentees for the cup tie at Bournemouth.

Yannick Bolasie is yet to score for Swansea in 10 appearances

But Yannick Bolasie is available after it emerged he is still under contract at Swansea after signing a short-term deal in November.

Bolasie's contract expires before the trip to Leicester City on Tuesday, 30 January, with Williams hoping the 34-year-old will extend his stay.

"I spoke with Yannick," Williams said. "He has one or two things he needs to weigh up. He is not a kid, he is an experienced guy and he has other options and things in his life.

"He is training brilliantly - that's the first thing you have to know - he is so focused and he is really great in the building, so this is definitely not a commitment thing.

"I like a lot of what Yannick's about."
