Hibernian to introduce safe standing section at Easter Road Stadium
- Published
Hibernian are to introduce a safe standing section next season after 82% of supporters surveyed said it would improve the atmosphere at Easter Road.
Scottish Premiership rivals Celtic and Kilmarnock already have such sections.
Now Hibs plan to introduce rail seating into the lower tier of the Famous Five Stand.
The club say it follows a "rigorous consultation process" of meetings and surveys with supporters.
Hibs stated that "83% of supporters are in favour of safe standing being introduced to the Famous Five Lower Tier".
That section is currently the club's designated family area and 51% of season-ticket holders said they "would either remain in the section or be interested in more information". However, a new designated family area will also be introduced.
Chief executive Ben Kensell said the introduction of safe standing "will be a big step" towards "improving the matchday experience at Easter Road".
