Cambridge have signed striker Macauley Bonne on loan from League Two side Gillingham until the end of the season.

The deadline day capture of much-travelled 28-year-old Bonne takes Cambridge's number of signings in the January transfer window to three.

He follows the arrival of fellow striker Lyle Taylor and on-loan full-back James Gibbons from League One rivals Bristol Rovers.

Bonne, who began his career with Colchester, has played for eight clubs.

He has a career league and cup goal tally of 97 from 366 games with Colchester, Lincoln City, Woking, Leyton Orient, Charlton Athletic (twice), QPR, Ipswich Town and the Gills.

His best days were at Orient, where he scored 45 league goals in 90 games for the O's.
