Burnley transfer news: Defenders Maxime Esteve and Lorenz Assignon join on loan

Burnley have signed French defenders Maxime Esteve and Lorenz Assignon on loan until the end of the season.
Centre-back Esteve, 21, joins from Montpellier where he played more than 50 games since his debut in 2021.
Right-back Assignon, 23, comes in from Rennes having played 60 matches for the Ligue 1 club.
It means manager Vincent Kompany has boosted his side with three January signings after striker David Datro Fofana arrived on loan from Chelsea.
"I have followed the Premier League since being a young child and had only pictured myself ever being here, so I am really excited," said Esteve.
"The manager spoke really positively about the project here and I just wanted to be a part of it straight away."
Assignon added: "I had a number of clubs to choose from but I spoke to the manager and straight away knew that I wanted to be here.
"I'm ready to go. It's the best league in the world and I'm really excited to be a part of it."
Meanwhile, winger Anass Zaroury has joined Championship club Hull in search of first-team football, while Wales full-back Connor Roberts has gone to Leeds United.
Defender CJ Egan-Riley has joined Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven, with all three exits loan deals until the end of the season.
