Newport County earned a fourth straight League Two win as they comfortably beat Walsall at Bescot Stadium.

County came flying out the traps and were 2-0 up within quarter of an hour, Bryn Morris opening the scoring before Will Evans doubled the visitors' lead.

Harry Charsley, an early replacement for the injured Aaron Wildig, headed in a third for Newport before the break as Walsall looked completely stunned.

Owen Evans' late dismissal rounded off a miserable afternoon for Walsall.

Victory moves Newport within three points of the League Two play-offs after an extraordinary resurgence in 2024.

Defeat leaves Walsall in 15th, now five points behind Newport in the League Two standings.

Newport County manager Graham Coughlan told BBC Sport Wales:

"Our performance in the first 20 minutes was outstanding. Probably the best since I've come to the club.

"Fair play to the lads, it was front-foot football and the goals were really good, the second one was Premier League standard.

"It was a professional performance in the second half, Nick Townsend has only pulled off one save - that's it!"
