Crewe Alexandra 2-3 Morecambe

Promotion-chasing Crewe Alexandra were stunned as Morecambe produced a late fightback to turn round a two-goal deficit.

Striker Elliott Nevitt's first-half header, his 12th goal of the season, and Shilow Tracey's shot had Crewe eyeing a fourth win in five games.

But Joe Adams, substitute Jordan Slew and skipper Farrend Rawson netted inside a quarter of an hour as Ged Brannan's side secured their first win in four matches, leaving Crewe two points off the League Two automatic-promotion spots.

Morecambe's Ged Garner was inches away from finishing off Joel Senior's low cross, then wasted a good opening when dragging wide before Crewe turned defence into attack to take an 18th-minute lead.

Charlie Kirk set up the chasing Nevitt, whose headed effort was pushed into the air by keeper Archie Mair, only for the striker to nod home the rebound.

The Alex then made it 2-0 when Tracey cut in from the right to shoot past Mair from the edge of the box.

But Morecambe shocked Crewe with two goals inside five minutes, first when Max Melbourne pulled the ball across and Adams' side-footed effort slipped under Harvey Davies, then when Adams' low shot was pushed out and substitute Slew drove home through a crowd of players.

Mair kept out Alex substitute Lewis Leigh's curling free-kick, then used his feet to block an effort from Josh Austerfield before the visitors won it on 83 minutes when Rawson finished from close range from Senior's low cross.
