Edinburgh City: Scottish League 1 bottom side's relegation confirmed after 29 games & points deduction

Edinburgh City's relegation from Scottish League 1 was confirmed by a 5-2 defeat by Alloa Athletic on Saturday.

The capital club were handed a six-point deduction in January after failing to pay players and other debtors.

On the pitch, Michael McIndoe's side have won just twice in 29 league outings and have five points.

City moved to the re-developed Meadowbank Stadium following promotion to the third tier in 2022.

In a statement on X, external, the club wrote: "Today's result confirms that Edinburgh City FC will be playing League Two football next season.

"Thank you Citizens, for your unconditional and incredible support, during this most challenging and difficult of campaigns."
