Jonny Evans: NI and Manchester United defender 'got a few more miles in the tank'

Jonny Evans signed a one-year deal with Manchester United in September
Manchester United and Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans has "still got a few miles in the tank", says his international manager Michael O'Neill.
It had been speculated that the 36-year-old, who has won 106 NI caps, will retire at the end of the season.
Evans rejoined United on a one-year deal in September.
"Jonny and I have a really good relationship and we have had those conversations [about retirement]," O'Neill said.
Speaking before Northern Ireland's friendly with Scotland on Tuesday, which Evans will miss through injury, O'Neill added: "I'll obviously try and talk him out of that scenario [retiring from football] but we'll obviously respect whatever decision Jonny makes."
Eight years after leaving Old Trafford, Evans rejoined the club this season on a one-year deal after his contract with Leicester City expired.
He had initially signed a short-term deal to cover pre-season but has made 24 appearances for Erik ten Hag's side, with 14 of those coming as starts.
O'Neill added Evans, who is the fourth most-capped Northern Ireland player, still "brings a lot" to both club and country in a congested football calendar.
"He has been a great player for me, he's been a great player for Northern Ireland, but I think he's still got a few miles in the tank yet.
"He brings a lot. He's not going to go out every week and play in the Premier League, but at a club like Manchester United where there is European competitions and cup football I think he's more than a useful player to keep around."
