Bolton Wanderers have signed midfielder Scott Arfield on a one-year deal.

The experienced 35-year-old has played in the top three divisions of the English Football League, the Scottish Premiership and most recently in Major League Soccer after joining Charlotte in 2023.

He was part of Sean Dyche's Burnley side who won the Championship in 2016 as well as winning the Scottish Premiership in 2021 under Steven Gerrard at Rangers.

“Scotty has obviously had a very good career and was playing in a Europa League final not so long ago," Bolton manager Ian Evatt told the club's website, external.

"He's been playing regularly in the MLS and is still able to do the job.

"He wants to help us on the pitch but also off it. That experienced voice away from the staff is really going to help us."

Arfield is the Trotters fourth summer signing.
