Chelsea have secured the future of midfielder Sam Rak-Sakyi and are set to sign him to a new two-year deal.

The 19-year-old saw his contract expire in June while protracted but amicable talks have seen discussions extend into August.

Rak-Sakyi, who has been with the club since he was eight years old, is expected to sign his new two year extension until 2026 on Wednesday.

It follows a successful season playing 49 matches across various youth levels last season.

However, an untimely injury will block his chance of leaving on loan this summer, with injury also derailing a desired loan move for Finland Under-21s international Jimi Tauriainen.

Rak-Sakyi will ultimately hope to emulate his brother, Jesurun, who has broken into the first team at Crystal Palace and made 10 appearances for the South Londoners.

He is reportedly ready to join Sheffield United on a season-long loan deal.
