Liverpool defender Williams extends Morecambe loan

Rhys Williams has made 25 appearances for Morecambe in all competitions this season

Liverpool defender Rhys Williams has extended his loan spell at Morecambe until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has made 21 appearances in League Two for the Shrimps this season after joining in August.

He has played 19 times for the Reds but last appeared for them in a competitive fixture in May 2021.

"Quite easily, he could've moved on but that could've stopped his growth pattern, and I think staying here, playing week in, week out, will benefit him in the long run," boss Derek Adams told the club website.
