Manchester United are hopeful of signing Brighton forward Elisabeth Terland on a free transfer.

Terland, 22, was Brighton's top scorer last season, registering 15 times in 28 appearances across all competitions, including the opener in a 2-2 draw against United in the Women's Super League (WSL).

The Norway international's contract is about to expire and United hope to complete a deal before the next international break in mid-July.

United are believed to have several targets lined up, with a number of high-profile players set to leave the club.

Mary Earps is set to join Paris St-Germain after turning down a contract offer from United which they felt was reflective of her pedigree in the WSL.

United were in lengthy negotiations with Earps, 31, for several months and offered her terms which they believed matched her expectations.

Lucia Garcia, 25, is set to join Mexican champions Monterrey.

Spain forward Garcia scored twice as United beat Tottenham 4-0 in the Women's FA Cup final in May, helping the club to win the competition for the first time.

Garcia confirmed her United exit on Wednesday and bid farewell to the club.

"For me, it has been two incredible seasons," she said. "I was so happy to have been a part of this team and to have helped the team. We are like a family.

"I am going to miss every single piece of Manchester United. All my friends, all the team, all the staff, all the workers here. I think one of the hardest parts is to leave the fans.

"But at the end of the day, I have to say goodbye. That's so hard for me, and the only thing I can say to you all is I love you [from] the bottom of my heart."

There is also a chance captain Katie Zelem, who is out of contract at the end of this month, could also depart, although a decision has yet to be made on that.
