Manchester United and England centre-back Harry Maguire has said he will be out of action for "a few weeks" because of injury.

Maguire was hurt in the first half of United's 0-0 draw at Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday and was substituted at half-time, before leaving Villa Park in a protective boot.

"Frustrated to pick up an injury at the weekend, will be a few weeks on the sideline for me but I'll come back stronger," Maguire posted on Instagram.

The 31-year-old was not included in Lee Carsley's England squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Greece and Finland.

Maguire, who missed Euro 2024 because of a calf problem, has appeared nine times for United so far this campaign, scoring in the 3-3 Europa League draw against Porto on 3 October.

United are next in action at home to Brentford on 19 October.
