Jersey Bulls manager Elliot Powell says his side are capable of causing an upset as they face Worthing in the FA Cup.

The National League South side - who play in the sixth tier of English football - are the highest-ranked opponents the Bulls have ever faced in a competitive game.

The eighth-tier island side won promotion last season and have progressed through three rounds to reach this stage of the competition.

"It's obviously a huge day for the club," Powell told BBC Radio Jersey ahead of Saturday's game at Springfield.

"It's great to be back involved in the FA Cup, and these are the kind of ties that you get involved in it for.

"We'd probably have liked it a couple of rounds later so we could have progressed a little bit further, and it's going to be a tough battle now to progress, but we've got a good chance at it.

"We've got a game plan, we need a little bit of luck, we need to be spot on and we need Worthing to be slightly off it, but it could be a memorable day if we get it right at Springfield."

Powell's side are unbeaten this season, drawing all three of their matches in the Isthmian League South East Division and winning all four of their cup matches - three in the FA Cup and last week's 4-1 win over Hastings United in the FA Trophy.

After a pre-season without any friendlies and a number of players unavailable over August, Powell is feeling more confident as his frontline players begin to return for selection and his side remains unbeaten:

"It's been a step up, but one that we've taken to really really well," he added.

"At the start of the season we were looking at pure survival.

"But - and we're not getting ahead of ourselves - if we get on a run there's definitely a chance that we could be a little bit more comfortable than that, and possibly even have loftier ambitions than that as well."
