Mainoo gets his chance

I don't think it is by accident Manchester United put their team news for the Grimsby cup tie on an X post with a massive picture of Kobbie Mainoo as the backdrop.

United know Mainoo is hugely popular. Any decision for him to leave would attract criticism from the club's supporters.

But the dilemma is clear. Mainoo has been picked in the Bruno Fernandes role.

If he is to get his place back, he has either got to oust the captain or persuade Ruben Amorim he can do another job.
