Head coach Adam Furness says his Durham Women side are happy to stay under the radar despite qualifying for the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

Durham won 2-1 at Sunderland in the River Wear derby to top Group B and take their place in the last eight as the only Women's Championship club alongside the WSL's big three of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

"There are lots of teams in our league who've got huge profile, huge squads, international players," Furness told BBC Radio Newcastle.

"We're not one of those. We just go about our business, do what we can do with the players we've got and if that means staying under the radar a little bit longer, long may that continue."

Durham are second in the Championship, level on points with Birmingham City and through to the fourth round of the Women's FA Cup in a very successful start to the season.

They face Bristol City on Sunday in their final game before the winter break and Furness cannot praise his players highly enough for what they are producing.

"The entire group has just run through a brick wall again," he said.

"We're punching well above our weight at the minute, but we keep doing it week after week.

"It's brilliant to see, the group is absolutely flying and from our perspective, just keep rolling the games in front of us and we'll see what we can do."
