St Mirren sell top scorer Olusanya to Houston

Toyosi Olusanya helped St Mirren finish in the Scottish Premiership's top six

St Mirren have sold top scorer Toyosi Olusanya to Houston Dynamo for an undisclosed six-figure fee, with manager Stephen Robinson describing it as "terrific business" for the Scottish Premiership club.
The 27-year-old Englishman's contract was due to end this summer and Robinson said it was "credit to the football club" to have secured a fee "with such a short time remaining" on his current deal.
St Mirren will be unable to sign a replacement for the final five games of the season, but they qualified for the Premiership's top six last week and are nine points adrift of Aberdeen and unlikely to qualify for European football next season.
Olusanya has signed a contract until June 2026 with the side sitting second bottom of the Major Soccer League Western Conference, with Dynamo having the option to extend it for another two years.

"Toyosi has deserved his move," Robinson told his club website.
"It's something that has come out of the blue, but it's a fantastic opportunity for him. He's conducted himself so well since he's come to the club and proved what a good player and signing he's been."
Olusanya joined St Mirren in June 2022 after leaving Middlesbrough, but Robinson pointed out that, previous to his season with the Championship club, he had spent most of his career in non-league football.
He described him as "a great example" of where a "fantastic work ethic" can take a player.
Olusanya was initially loaned to Arbroath in Scotland's second tier but would go on to score 19 goals, 12 of them this season.
Dynamo president of soccer Pat Onstad told his club website: "Toyosi is a dynamic goalscorer who adds more physicality and verticality to our attack.
"He will provide valuable depth at the forward position, especially as we enter the busiest stretch of our season."
