West Bromwich Albion midfielder Jayson Molumby says he has ridden an emotional "rollercoaster" after capping a fortnight of big highs and deep lows by netting a late winner against Swansea on Saturday.

Just six days after helping the Republic of Ireland reach the World Cup play-offs in dramatic fashion, the 26-year-old was sent off at Coventry as the Baggies let slip a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2.

He then had to sit out the midweek derby with Birmingham and watch his side concede a late equaliser before making amends with an 85th-minute winner against the Swans.

"Football is so hard with managing your emotions," Molumby told BBC Radio WM.

"It's like a rollercoaster, what people say. One week, you're having an amazing night with Ireland and then getting back to your club and you get sent off and it's a real low place.

"Being alone in the dressing room in Coventry and hearing the roars for the second goal and the third goal, it's a terrible feeling. And then obviously [Saturday], you're back up. It's just trying to regulate your emotions."

Molumby felt the dip of the rollercoaster after taking the defeat to the Sky Blues to heart.

Albion were leading the Championship leaders 2-1 when he picked up a second yellow card just four minutes into the second half.

"Just letting the team, the club and the staff down last weekend - I took full responsibility for that defeat away to Coventry," he said.

"I was gutted and it's been a tough week. The lads don't deserve that and don't deserve the results that we've had lately."

Ryan Mason's side had picked up just one win from their previous seven Championship matches going into Saturday.

The omens didn't look good when they fell 2-0 down inside the first 11 minutes against a struggling Swans side who arrived on the back of four straight league defeats

But an "embarrassed" Albion responded after the break as Aune Heggebo's five-minute double and Molumby's first goal of the season spared further blushes.

"Everyone was probably embarrassed at half-time, and genuinely it was embarrassing," he said.

"You can be 2-0 down in football, but the manner of the two goals was really embarrassing.

"We wanted to come out with a bit of character and if we don't get a point or don't get a win, we wanted to try and show that we have a bit of pride or a bit of fight and a bit of care, and thankfully, we did that."
