Bristol City left-back Cameron Pring is in line to make his first appearance of the season against Swansea after returning from injury.

Pring has not played since the play-off defeat to Sheffield United at the end of last season because of an ankle ligament injury sustained during a summer training camp in Portugal, which required surgery.

Captain Jason Knight is also available for Saturday's visit of the Swans (12:30 GMT) along with wing-backs Ross McCrorie and Neto Borges, while Mark Sykes is expected to have recovered from a shin injury for the trip to Wrexham on 26 November.

"Knighty is back, Pringy is back - really good training sessions with us so they are in the roster on the weekend," head coach Gerhard Struber told BBC Radio Bristol.

"All the other injured players also looks a little bit brighter. Some players are very close to come back and we hope in the next few weeks we have a bigger selection."

Pring typically plays at left-back for City but has also played as a left winger and at centre-back.

Struber, who has yet to see him play a competitive match, said he was yet to decide which position suited the 27-year-old best, with City having tended to line up in a 3-4-2-1 this term.

"I see a player [who is] very friendly with the ball but also [has an] outstanding dynamic," Struber added.

"In the last few training sessions, I saw a player he's really good in decision-making, also football intelligence on a really good level.

"The mix of them makes him interesting for more positions, I will check the next few weeks which position he can make the difference, but I am really happy that he's back with this profile - a very helpful player."

The returns of Pring and Knight - the latter having missed the past eight league games - provides a major boost for a squad crippled by injuries and picking up just one point in their previous three matches before the international break.

Notably centre-back Zak Vyner has been playing out of position in midfield for seven of the past eight matches with so many players absent.

"We know on which position he is really familiar and he has a really good feeling and the best outcome and this is the centre-back position," Struber said.

"We are very clear in this way. When everything goes right he will jump back in his position where he grow and we will see how high the load will be for Knight in the next few weeks in the games, so we have him stable back on the field."
