Derby County have re-signed Ebou Adams from Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee after the midfielder helped the Rams to promotion from League One last season.

The 28-year-old Gambia international moves to Pride Park on a three-year deal having featured 17 times on loan for Paul Warne's side last term as they sealed their return to the Championship as runners-up in the third tier.

Adams was an instrumental figure in their push for promotion after the turn of the year, with the Rams winning 11 and losing just three of the matches he featured in.

The permanent move to Derby ends Adams' two years with Cardiff, where he managed just 13 appearances in all competitions.

Those appearances all came in the first half of last season, with a tendon tear and knee injury forcing him to wait 12 months to make his competitive debut for the Bluebirds after joining from Forest Green in the summer of 2022.

Those injuries means the former Dartford and Ebbsfleet midfielder has only made 11 appearances in the second tier, with much of his career spent at non-league and League Two level.

He spent time on the books at Norwich earlier in his career, but failed to make a senior appearance for the Canaries as he spent the majority of his time there out on loan.

Adams has been a key target for Warne on Derby's return to the Championship after a two-year absence and has immediately joined the Rams on their pre-season camp in Spain.
