Plymouth Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley says he has been impressed by new loanee Law McCabe in his first full week at the club.

The 19-year-old Middlesbrough midfielder has linked up with Argyle after being away with England's under-20 side.

The deadline day signing got the chance to train with England's senior side while he was at St George's Park and McCabe was also in the crowd for last week's 4-2 win over Stockport County.

"He's technically outstanding. He's got a really good habit of trying to pass the ball forward," former England and Manchester United midfielder Cleverley told BBC Radio Devon.

"He's one of those midfielders that always seems to have time, it reminds me a little bit of when I went to Leicester on loan as a 19, 20-year-old - I was very similar in terms of stature, in terms of attributes."

Cleverley has had a full week to train with his squad for the first time since the start of last month.

While Argyle's midfield of Bradley Ibrahim, Malachi Boateng and Caleb Watts impressed in the win over Stockport, Cleverley says McCabe would be a great addition to his side, and could make his debut at Luton Town on Saturday.

"It's all about keeping on developing his strengths and really looking to improve some of his weaknesses, but he's got lots and lots of ability, that's for sure," he added.

"I've only seen him for three training sessions, but he's got super strengths when we have the football.

"He's an exciting player, the players have warmed to him straight away, I think he'll be a very good deal for both parties."
