Eastleigh have confirmed defender Archie Harris has left hospital following a clash of heads that caused the abandonment of the club's National League home match with Scunthorpe.

Harris passed tests, including a CT scan, after being hospitalised on Tuesday following the collision with Jean Belehouan.

The Spitfires shared a photo of 20-year-old Harris, who is on a season-long loan from Premier League club Bournemouth, raising a thumb with his eyes open in hospital.

"As advised by doctors, Archie will have 48 hours of complete rest before following the concussion guidelines," read a club statement.

"We are all fully behind Archie during his recovery."

Scunthorpe said centre-back Belehouan, who was taken to the dressing room on a wheelchair after the incident, returned home on the team coach following medical attention.

"He's feeling much better and thanks everyone for their well wishes and messages," The Iron said in a social media post.

With the game level at 1-1, both players required medical treatment on the pitch and were shrouded by flags while paramedics attended.

The teams were sent to the changing rooms by the referee before the abandonment.

Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside on Tuesday, Scunthorpe manager Andy Butler said Harris had received oxygen and was smiling.

Butler said Belehouan had not lost consciousness but had a "slightly numb face" and was in a "bit of shock from the impact".

Scunthorpe had taken the lead when Declan Howe tapped a rebound under goalkeeper Nick Townsend in the 83rd minute at the Silverlake Stadium.

Eastleigh equalised in the first minute of added time when Harvey Saunders met Paul McCallum's header across goal.
